Earthquake

It wouldn’t be the only event scheduled to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake.  Or even the only ballet.  But, unlike the others, the unique purpose of the premiere of “Earthquake” was to celebrate the extraordinary advances in earthquake engineering technology during the last century.

Computers & Structures, Inc. – which produces the world’s leading software for designing man-made structures to withstand the extremes of nature – had commissioned a timeless new work from Diablo Ballet, which would be performing it in San Francisco on the eve of this historic event.

The occasion would mark the first opportunity for this Bay Area dance company to step into the national spotlight.  As well, it would give sponsor CSI its first-ever public recognition.  Despite the fierce competition for attention by over a hundred commemorative events, Foggia Public Relations produced the campaign that helped score interviews with Newsweek, NBC Nightly News, ABC Network News, MSNBC, PBS NewsHour, NPR, and San Francisco’s KPIX-TV and ABC7 – as well as a full-page photo in the San Francisco Chronicle and more.

Creative campaigns for creative people.

Foggia Public Relations is pleased to now be the agency of record for both Diablo Ballet and the Bay Area’s internationally-acclaimed California Symphony.  As well as boosting regional attention for these professional non-profits, Foggia is mounting special campaigns for the Symphony’s 20th anniversary, as well the 15th anniversary of its unprecedented Young American Composers-In-Residence Program.

For long-time client, internationally-acclaimed African American artist Ernie Barnes, Foggia Public Relations created the national publicity campaign for the unveiling of his new painting, “A Life Restored,” commissioned by Grammy-winning hip hop superstar Kanye West to commemorate West’s near-death experience from a car accident in late 2002.

Prior to launching her career as a publicist, Foggia served as the visual arts critic for The Seattle Sun, Northwest editor for ArtWeek, and an arts contributor to The Argus.  Her body of work – consisting of reviews, profiles and interviews with prominent artists – resulted in a coveted National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship for Arts Criticism, the only one awarded in the Northwest region that year.
