Matthew Goldberg has joined Kell Alterman & Runstein LLP in Portland, in the area of bankruptcy and debtor-creditor law, it was announced today by the firm’s Managing Partner, Thomas R. Rask. Goldberg is admitted to practice in Oregon and Washington, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Washington, the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon, and the Ninth Circuit of Appeals.
Earlier this month, the American Bar Association recognized Goldberg’s “achievement as one of the nation’s leading litigators in [his] field” with his reappointment as Associate Editor and member of the Editorial Board of the ABA’s Litigation News for a second term. He was also recently appointed to chair the ABA’s Subcommittee on Lawyer Advertising of the Litigation Section’s Ethics & Professionalism Committee.
Goldberg has significant experience representing trustees, creditors and debtors in a broad spectrum of bankruptcy matters, including complex litigation in bankruptcy court. His clients range from Fortune 500 corporations to small businesses and individuals.
A 2005 summa cum laude graduate of the Lewis & Clark School of Law, Goldberg externed for the Honorable Elizabeth J. Perris, Chief Judge for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Oregon, prior to beginning his practice. Before moving west, the native New Yorker spent five years doing business and strategic development for first-generation Internet companies, giving him extensive experience in the technology and media industries.
The recipient of a M.A. in professional writing from the University of Massachusetts, and a B.A. in English from the State University of New York at Binghampton, Goldberg has been published in national newspapers and magazines. At Lewis & Clark, he served as Recent Developments Editor of the Lewis & Clark Law Review. He is a frequent speaker at CLEs and other legal seminars.
