Diablo Ballet under Artistic Director Lauren Jonas will celebrate its 13th anniversary with the world premiere of a new Viktor Kabaniaev ballet inspired by the Shakespearean tragedy, Hamlet, at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek on March 23 – 24.
The program will also include a revival of George Balanchine’s showy pas de deux from Stars and Stripes to the music of John Philip Sousa; Grand Pas D’Action, Nikolai Kabaniaev’s amusing ode to the differences between classical ballet and modern dance set to Alexander Glazunov’s music; and Dancing Miles, Kello Teo’s tribute to the late jazz legend Miles Davis.
